DIY Emotional Freedom - It's Free!

Want to erase your negative thoughts and emotions? Want to rid yourself of pain or discomfort? Want to do it all from the comfort of your home?  All for free?

YOU CAN!

It's called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).   It's simple, fast and easy and you can literally erase decades worth of negative emotion and pain.

Gary Craig has gifted EFT to the world - FREE - no strings attached.

While Gary has recently evolved EFT into what he calls "Optimal EFT", the original "Gold Standard" EFT continues to help people all over the world.  You can learn everything you need to know to start tapping your way to emotional freedom here on his website.  For free.

EFT involves tapping on specific points on your body.  These points fall on meridians - the same lines of energy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (e.g. acupuncture) and Touch for Health.   Tapping these points releases the energy disruptions caused by negative thoughts and memories.  Releasing the energy disruptions releases the thoughts and memories.  It's that simple.  It's that easy.  It's free.

It may seem odd that I'm promoting a website teaching people how to heal themselves for free.  After all, I offer healing sessions that are not free.

My goal is to help as many people as possible to feel their best.

I understand some people can't afford to pay for healing sessions.
I understand some people don't want to pay for healing sessions.

This shouldn't stop them from healing.
Everyone deserves the chance to heal.

So why not try EFT?

Did I mention, it's FREE!

Earth Dragon Healing - now offering Touch for Health energy balances

I am happy to announce that in addition to Reiki and Sound healing, I am now offering Touch for Health energy balances.

What is Touch For Health?  As Matthew Thie, President, explains “Touch for Health is a system of balancing posture, attitude and life energy to relieve stress, aches and pains, feel and function better, be more effective, clarify and achieve your goals and enjoy your life!”  Click here to read more about Touch for Health

Using the principles of Chinese medicine, Touch for Health is based on muscle testing, massage, energy work and postural alignment.  It includes techniques to reduce stress and pain, and to release negative emotions that may be holding you back from achieving your goals.

Stress & Pain

Every thought and emotion affects our body.  We all know the physical symptoms that intense emotions can create - muscle tension, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, etc.   It’s important to realize that even less intense, fleeting thoughts and emotions can be held in the body.    Everyday little life-things you may have forgotten, that your body remembers and accumulates.   If not released and rebalanced, these can continue to accumulate until your body responds with discomfort, and eventually pain and/or illness.

The body works on a priority basis.  On it’s own priorities.  Think of it like layers of an onion.  This could mean, for example, that your goal is to relieve your low back pain, yet after a couple of balances your back still hurts.  But your sinuses are clearer, your mood is improved and you’re sleeping better.  Those were your body’s priorities.  Be patient - as you remove the layers your priority will be revealed and released.

Achieving your Goals

Touch for Health has a comprehensive protocol for identifying and achieving wellness oriented goals.  Working with the related meridian metaphors can get your own intuitive perceptions flowing, allowing you to creatively problem solve, move forward and reach your goals.  The body’s priority basis also applies to the goal setting process.  The related muscle testing is important to help keep you focused on your body’s priorities and improve your results.

Reiki can help!

Most wellness models in our western culture teach that the body is the foundation for everything in life, that without a healthy body everything else suffers.  I believe this is backwards thinking.  Your body isn't the foundation of your health.  Your body is the physical manifestation of your life experiences.  When your life is out of balance your mind gets stressed.  And when your mind is stressed your body suffers.  The good news is that you can make changes in your life, at any time, that can positively affect your health.

Unfortunately our medical system doesn't teach doctors, or allow them the time needed, to counsel their patients on the things that ultimately manifest in the physical body. So we need to take this responsibility on for ourselves.  How do we do that?

Ask yourself what you think might be the root to your medical condition.  Think beyond the conventional answers like "I need to lose weight" or "I am depressed".  These may be true, but they're the symptoms.  You're looking for the underlying cause.  Dig deeper:  Is your marriage on the rocks?  Do you hate your job?  Are you lonely?

Ask yourself "What does my body need so it can heal?"  Yes, maybe you need antibiotics or some professional counselling.  But maybe you need to finish that novel, hire a nanny, forgive an old injustice, or end a relationship.

This is tough stuff.

Go easy on yourself.

Reiki can help.

Pathways to Health

Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Healing

According to The World Health Organization, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease."  In keeping with this idea of health, working to create a sense of well-being on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels is what Reiki is all about.

Many people use the terms "healing" and "curing" interchangeably but it's important to understand they do not mean the same thing.  Curing means to completely eradicate an illness or disease in the physical body while healing can occur on many different levels and isn't  even necessarily linked to a physical condition.

What does it mean to heal on these different levels?
  1. Physical - healing on this level might mean eliminating an illness completely, or could simply mean alleviating the symptoms for a while , allowing time to address any underlying root causes that might be found on the emotional, mental or spiritual levels.
  2. Emotional - emotional healing might result in calming fears or coming to acceptance of the effects of life-events such as illness, bereavement, job loss, etc.
  3. Mental - the deep state of relaxation assists with the mental release of negative thought patterns or attitudes that might be interfering with relationships or achieving life goals.
  4. Spiritual - healing from a spiritual level could result in a more compassionate attitude towards self, others and the natural world.  Or it might assist in releasing restrictive belief systems to support greater self-expression and creativity.

The Mind Heals with Laughter
The Spirit heals with Joy

Qi Gong Day in Toronto

I recently attended the World Qi Gong Congress held in Toronto Ontario.  I attended only one day of the four day event.  That one day was so jam-packed with information, demonstrations and lectures I can't imagine my brain absorbing three more days worth!

"The Magic of Qi Gong" with Lee Holden

I was lucky enough to participate in demonstrations in two of the workshops I attended.   The first workshop was "Energetics of Push Hands" with Lama Tantrapa.     Though it was aimed at beginners (which I am not) I was very impressed by his down-to-earth style, depth of knowledge, and skill.  He had been teaching us how to be rooted so when pushed we wouldn't lose our balance.  When he asked me to participate in a demo by pushing him, I applied all my Tai Chi principles and complied.  And pushed him off balance!  He'd under estimated my abilities, so he re-took his stance and told me to push him again.  I pushed him off balance again, though less so this time.  At this point he turned to the crowded room and announced "She is very powerful".  Yes - Lama Tantrapa said I was powerful!  I was thrilled.  And totally impressed by his lack of ego.  He took his stance again and told me to push.  It was like pushing on jello.  I couldn't find his centre and just rolled off one side or the other, no matter how many times I tried.  It was obvious I was no match for him once he stepped up his game.  But he'd had to step up his game -  proof my years of studying Tai Chi haven't been wasted!

The second workshop was with Dr. Effie Chow.  This tiny lady (I don't think she's five feet tall) is at least sixty-five years old and was sporting a cane.  She asked four large people to come to the front.   I was sitting in the second row - she pointed to me and told me to come up.  I'm overweight, and being selected for my size was hard on my ego, but I went up there anyway.  Once at the front we were told to announce our weight into the microphone so everyone could hear.   Gulp.  Well, I figured everyone could see I was overweight, so what was the big deal about putting a number on it?  So I proudly stated my true weight.  (I guess the glow from the "She is very powerful" comment hadn't worn off yet. )  Someone in the audience added it all up - together the four of us weighed over 800 lbs.   Dr. Chow told us to stand in a line, congo-style and plant ourselves firmly, but not to push back if we felt pushed.  She leaned on the first guy in line, but  couldn't budge him.  Then she used her chi to push instead of her muscles.  She pushed all four of us backward!  I was the furthest away from her yet still felt a smooth, solid and relentless energy push me back.  It was amazing.

Dr. George Love's workshop on Qi Gong to prevent/heal cancer was awesome.  Dr. Love is charismatic and inspiring and emanates a passionate and fun-loving energy.  I was so impressed with him I bought his DVD and plan to learn his Meridian Qi Gong exercises.  The DVD came with a bonus disk of his Qi Gong music video which is also on Youtube.  Watch it here and see his incredible energy for yourself.

Earth Healing - No Dragon Required

Healing with "Earthing"

Earthing is an easy way to help your body overcome illness and injury and improve your overall health.  Sound too good to be true?  "Earthing" is not a new diet or exercise program, in fact it's old.  Very, very old.  What is new is our ability to scientifically support the benefits of "earthing".

What is "earthing"?   It's walking barefoot on the earth.  Yup, that's it.  That's the whole enchilada - exercising on the earth in your bare feet.  Here's a four minute video that gives you a quick overview of the oldest, easiest and free way to improve your health.

There's an excellent video here that explains in detail the research done to support the claim that earthing can help us avoid our body's inflammatory response and why this leads to better health.  The video is just over an hour long but well worth the time investment.  If you don't have an hour to spare you can read the highlights on the page below the video.

I realize all that glitters is not gold, but this seemed to make sense to me so I gave it a try.  I had injured my back 6 days prior and was frustrated by my lack of recovery.  Despite continuing to practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong through the injury, laying down was my only pain free activity.   So I moved my Qi Gong practice outside, removed my socks and did a round of "Eight Brocades" - eight short exercises rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine.  It took about twenty minutes.

For the next two hours I had tingling in the bottom of my feet as well as tingling and warmth up my legs, half way to my knees.  I have been practicing Qi Gong for years and had never experienced this.  I had never done Qi Gong barefoot in the grass before either.

My back felt better, but I wanted it to be right, not just better.  So I did it again the next day, only this time after completing the exercises I laid on my back on the ground.  After about 10 minutes I was interrupted, my attention called indoors.  Because I was focused on other things, I didn't realize until later that day my back was normal.   Full range of motion - pain free!

If you decide to give earthing a try, please share your experiences here.  I'd love to hear if others have similiar experiences.

Reiki for Health & Wellness

R is for Reiki

Here are 4 really good reasons to give Reiki a try:
  1. Reiki can never do harm.  The Reiki practitioner acts as a channel for the energy and your body does the rest.  You and your body are in control of your own healing.
  2. Reiki is not a religion.  Although Reiki is spiritually guided, Reiki has no religious affiliation.  You do not have to "believe" in anything for Reiki to work.
  3. Reiki does not interfere with your current medications or treatments.  Reiki is a complementary healing technique that  is used in hospitals and hospices.
  4. Reiki works on both chronic illness (e.g. stress related complaints) and acute conditions (e.g. sports injuries).
The benefits of Reiki:
  • pain relief
  • reduced stress
  • improved sleep
  • increased energy
  • feelings of well-being

People who have regular Reiki treatments feel more balanced and report an increased enjoyment in life.  So what are you waiting for?  Why not try Reiki today?  All you've got to lose is your stress.

Labyrinths - A Path to Healing

L is for Labyrinth

A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness and healing.  It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path.   Labyrinths represent a journey to our own centre and back again out into the world.  They have long been used as meditation and prayer tools.

A labyrinth is not a maze.  Mazes are puzzles with twists, turns and dead ends where many decisions are required to find your way to the centre.  Navigating a maze is a left-brain task that requires logic and sequential thinking.  A labyrinth on the other hand is a right-brain activity that invokes intuition, creativity and imagery.  It's a more passive, receptive experience where there's only one decision to make - to enter or not.  There's only one path in a labyrinth - the way in is the way out.  Once you decide to walk a labyrinth you're on the path to renewing the mind-body-spirit connection.

Research conducted by Harvard Medical School's Mind/Body Institute has found that focused walking meditation such as walking a labyrinth is highly effective at reducing anxiety.  Done on a regular basis walking a labyrinth can result in long-term health benefits including reduction of insomnia, reduction of chronic pain, lowering blood pressure and improved concentration.
